We believe Christ followers should not be hindered by the lack of theological or practical knowledge in the quest to live a Kingdom-centered life. We do not believe Christians learn for the sake of learning but rather we learn to that we might accomplish that which our Lord has called us to do: be effective ministers of the message of the Gospel. To this end, the eQUIP program exists to prepare believers for the task of teaching, discipling, evangelizing and ministering in the church and within the prevailing culture.
Policies and Procedures
The program will use four 8 week semesters per calendar year. There will be 3 certificate levels (see attached certificate schedules). Most classes will be offered on Sunday Morning from 9:00 - 10:00 am. In addition to extra classes being required for the higher-level certificates, higher levels will require more from the student.
-The basic certificate will simply require the student’s attendance.
-The Intermediate level will require attendance, text book reading assignments and take home quizzes.
-The Leadership/Advanced level will require attendance, text book reading assignments, readings from a second book, take home quizzes, and a written end of course summary
Changing Levels During a Program
If a person starts at the basic level and decides to move to a higher level, he or she must contact the program director to apply for a level change. The director may direct the student to accomplish the level change by completing the additional work requirements for the desired higher level.
To receive credit for a class, the student must attend at least 6 of 8 session and complete all the reading and/or written assignments. If circumstances prevent a student from attending at least 6 sessions, he or she may make arrangements with the instructor to make up the classes missed. This will be purely at the discretion of the instructor.
Each instructor will take attendance each session and the program director will maintain attendance records for all students.
Mission requirements begin with class time in Missions 101. To complete any level, there is a minimum amount of mission involvement required (see certificate descriptions) after completing Missions 101. Mission involvement will be measured in days. Various mission activities will be offered throughout the year. These may be one day events at Horseshoe Bend or Cypress Villa, an afternoon working with World Relief, or week long mission trips to various destinations in the state, nation, and world.
Evangelism training will focus on both learning how to present the Gospel and practical application of what is learned. A total of 10 hours of evangelistic outreach must be completed. To count towards the student’s 10-hour requirement, the evangelistic activity must be church sponsored.
The 30 days just prior to the start of any class will be the enrollment period.
All classes will initially be capped at 10 students. In cases of high demand, classes may be increased at the discretion of the instructor and the program director. Once the minimum is achieved in each class offered then each course can be opened to any additional students. The goal is to avoid a scenario in which one class has 20 students and another has only a few.
