Reason for rejoicing: The Supreme Court has overturned Roe V. Wade, thereby rightly eliminating the so-called constitutional right to abortion, and putting the issue back in the hands of the individual states. This does not federally criminalize abortion or make it illegal according to federal law, it simply means the justices find no explicit protection for abortion as a constitutional right, as was previously ruled in Roe v. Wade and upheld in the Casey decision.
Effectively, it means that "the people", i.e. states, must decide for themselves whether to allow abortion. We need to understand that abortion can and will continue in certain states. So, Gospel-centered Pro-Life work must continue.
As believers who value all human life as image-bearers of God, must continue to pray that abortion would become unthinkable in our country. We also need to continue to support Pro-Life pregnancy centers, and participate in and advocate for foster care and adoption.
The Body of Christ still has a vital role to play. Be Salt and Light.
