This Sunday is Covenant Sunday at Emmanuel Church.
Emmanuel Church celebrates Covenant Sunday the first Sunday every other month (February, April, June, August, October, and December).
Covenant Sundays are special because we celebrate Communion together in the AM Service, and then we reconvene at 5 PM for Members' Meeeting.
COMMUNION OF SAINTS
The Lord’s Supper is a re-enactment of a portion of the last supper Jesus shared with His disciples on the night before His crucifixion. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of joyful obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize together the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.
Members of local church should make every effort to attend to the Lord's Table and re-affirm their commitment to the mission of Christ, and to the local church of which they are a member.
MEMBERS' MEETING at 5 PM
Our church’s polity (elder-led congregationalism) is based on the principle that it is the whole church’s responsibility to care for one another. One specific way we care for one another is our members’ meetings.
Our members’ meetings are held the first Sunday every other month (February, April, June, August, October, and December). Members’ meetings are the times when we do family business such as receive and dismiss members, hear reports from ministry areas, and talk about matters that affect the whole church family.
Members’ meetings are an important part of congregational life at Emmanuel and we strongly encourage your participation so you can be well informed, and participate in the care of the membership.
